This year for Christmas, I decided to actually take some time off work for the holidays. I usually try to take a day here and there to enjoy the festivities, but this year has reminded me that it's important to slow things down and enjoy your time. Enjoy downtime - which I have very little of. Enjoy time with family and friends. Enjoy time doing the things you love.
So, for the next two weeks, I am planning to work as little as possible. Yes, I will still need to be checking my email and staying on top of the urgent things, but outside of that, I'm really going to try and set work down for a bit. What will I do with all my free time? Well, number one, of course, is spend time with family. I've got all kinds of activities I want to do with my boy, and I'd like to take him on a couple of local adventures while we've got some dedicated time together. Number two is focus more on my writing. Now, I'm still healing from my dang hand surgery, but I've been able to make some really good progress on Fated over the last few weeks doing 10-20 minute writing stretches at a time. I would like to continue to do that, because I still can't write for more than about 30 minutes max without my hands bugging me too much, but I'd like to open up a few more times during the day where I can get in a 10-20 minute stretch. Why is this important to me? Outside of the fact that I have a goal to release this book in the spring, working on re-writing this story has fueled my passion for the trilogy, as well as for writing in general. I feel good when I write. I feel happy, like I'm doing what I'm meant to do. During my time off, I'd really like to focus on that feeling a little bit more intentionally. I think it's so important to dedicate time to focus on the things that you're passionate about, to chase your dream, to make progress in whatever it is that gives you a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Anyway! Today's post doesn't have a ton of structure or meat to it, but I just wanted to share with you all what I'm planning, and I'll be sure to update you on my progress when I'm back to work! Note: If you enjoy this blog, or you find any of my posts helpful or inspiring, please share them! We're all in this together. I'll also be sharing a reflection of how 2025 went for my author endeavors, so check back next weekend for that. Happy holidays, everyone!

I’m sorry to hear you had hand surgery but so glad you are on the mend. I miss you all very much and hope to see you during this Holiday season. Please kiss Oli for me and tell him it’s from his great grandma. I love you all! Your Grandma Kathy
