Despite receiving injuries she can’t explain her entire seventeen years, Lane Shrayan is accustomed to her life of predictability. Having recently taken over as the leader of her father's delivery team, she is excited to see the continent of Maran, so long as she has a map to follow. She knows just where her life is headed… until she meets Alec Montrose.
When the two chance an encounter, they quickly learn they can't stand each other, but they're drawn together by an inexplicable force. His injuries become hers, and hers become his. Twenty-year-old Alec is a mercenary with a carefree attitude and a love of ale that often gets him into trouble. On the surface, he's anything but serious, but his troubled past paired with his line of work keeps him in danger’s way, and Lane is forced to try and keep him - and herself - safe. As Alec embarks on a mission to track down his missing mother, Lane finds that her fate is tied to his in strange, perhaps even magical, ways. Now, Lane must discover just how deep their connection really is, and the two must decide how far they are willing to go to protect one another. Join Lane and Alec on their wild journey as it takes these two begrudging comrades into a world they've never imagined. |

Meet the Characters
|
Lane Shrayan is a stubborn, responsible seventeen year old from the southern village of Palandra.
Lane loves her family dearly, though she's had a complicated history with her mamman. When our story begins, Lane is training to take over her pappan's delivery business. Lane is a skilled archer, but she does not believe in hurting - or killing - unless it's absolutely necessary. Lane adores history and mapping out the places she has been. What Lane hates the most: Feeling out of control. |
What these two have in common: They have both received strange, inexplicable injuries their entire lives.
|
Alec Montrose is a twenty year old mercenary who prefers to spend his days intoxicated and enjoying himself. His lighthearted nature has him at odds with Lane often.
Alec is incredibly fond of his mamman, and he has spent his entire life trying to earn his pappan's approval. He has been on his own since he was fifteen. Alec is a trained and highly skilled fighter, and his charm with the ladies - paired with his easy going attitude and affinity for alcohol - has him often getting into trouble. Alec has a dark past that he'd rather escape than talk about. |
